Aberdeen Highland Games 1/7/2006
Local Scone members, Helen and Philip Burrell represented Clan MacNicol at the Aberdeen Highland Games on July 1st 2006.
It was a cold braw day more befitting perhaps its namesake Aberdeen in Scotland, than the Hunter region of NSW, but as a part of the “Week of Scottish Heritage” in the Aberdeen area was still enjoyed by all.
Helen and Philip agreed to help us out at short notice, running an information table for Clan MacNicol under the Scottish House common canopy. Not only did they display and inform of our Clan but also by being present raised the profile of Clan MacNicol in the Aberdeen area. I believe Philip obtained a new bag for his pipes on the day, so with a little time for tuning and practise, those present next year may even hear a tune or two from him!
